Senator Senior Spotlight

By Senators Staff 01/20/2021, 9:00am EST

In this Senior Spotlight we take a look at 4-year Senator & Andover Golden Knights  goalie Jake Brezner. Jake came to the Senators program in 2017-2018 season as a member of  our 15U Tier 1 team prior to his freshman campaign at Andover. That season Andover made  the Super 8 tournament and Jake was a member of that team. Jake’s sophomore season saw  him make the jump up to our 18U T2 National team playing for Coach Bonish and his staff.  “Jake was the backbone of our 15U team and playing against top teams like the Cape Cod  Whalers, Jr Bruins and other top Tier 1 programs, I thought he would be a great goalie to play  for us at the 18U level.” Jake did not disappoint, he was 12-1-2 with a 1.65 GAA. The highlight of  the season was Jake’s impressive 4-3 overtime win over the GBL Bruins in the State  Tournament Semi Finals. Jake also defeated the Quincy 67’s 4-2 in the Premier Hockey League  Championship Game. In 2019-2020, Jake was back with the 18U National team. The team lost  to Barnstable in the Mass Hockey State Tournament, the eventual state champion, but Brezner  was in net for the PHL Championship game. Jake led the team to a 4-2 win over the Cape Cod  Lightning.

This past season Jake was his usual self, compiling a 9-1-2 record and leading the  Senators to first place in the division. Covid-19 and Mass Hockey rules limited the team to play  regular season games only and canceled any playoffs and state tournaments this season. The  18U National team finished with a 17-5-2 record overall and would have played in the Mass  Hockey State Tournament this spring but that was also canceled.

Jake finished his Senators career with the 18U National team with a record of 28-6-4  with 4 complete game shutouts. He had a 2.29 GAA in over 1,700 minutes played. The Senators  team participated in the Mass Hockey State Tournament all 3 years and captured two Premier  Hockey League Playoff Championships. As a sophomore and junior Jake won 2 MVC Division 1 championships, the only 2 MVC division championships in Andover history.

Jake has been accepted to all 3 colleges that he applied to for Bio-Mechanical  Engineering that includes University of Pittsburgh, University of South Carolina and University  of Vermont and will continue to play hockey in college. Jake has been a valuable member of our Eastern Mass Senators program for 4  years and we wish him the best in his future.
