Bantam Tryout Information

You are cordially invited to try out for the 2018-2019 Eastern Mass Senators Bantam Hockey Teams at our tryout camp which will be held from March 16 – 19, 2018. We are looking forward to our 28th season of highly competitive hockey.


Our program has a history of excellence and success. This requires dedication and a commitment from all of our players and staff. We expect your attendance at our games and practices, which will result in us continuing this excellence and success. Your commitment to us will reflect in YOU getting the most out of our program!


This year our Bantam Program will consist of two teams. Senators 14U (Full Season) & Senators 14U (Split- Season)


We will hold our tryout camp at The Allied Veteran’s Memorial Rink in Everett, Ma. & The Stoneham Arena in Stoneham, Ma. You are encouraged to attend as many of these tryout sessions as possible. Each player will have the opportunity to attend 4 tryout sessions, which are listed below. The tryout fee is $60.00 if you register by mail. If you register at the tryouts, the fee will be $75.00. If you did not play for a USA Hockey Registered Team in the 2017-2018 season there is an additional $48.00 USA Hockey Registration Fee.


To register by mail, make checks payable to: Eastern Mass. Hockey and mail it with your application to: Eastern Mass. Hockey, 5 George Ave, Woburn, Mass. 01801. All mail registrations should be received by March 14, 2018.

Please arrive at the tryouts 30 minutes before your scheduled ice time if you registered by mail and 45 minutes before your scheduled ice time if you are registering at the tryouts. To be eligible for these tryouts, you must be born between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2005.


Our 14U Full Season Team’s Program will include Practices, Skills Sessions, a 28 – 30 Game League Schedule Including League Playoffs, Off Ice Training at our training partner Athletic Evolution and 3 Local Tournaments. The Team will also receive an Equipment Package that will include Pant Shell, Equipment Team Bag, Hockey Gloves, Warm-Up Suit, 2 Game Jerseys, 2 Pair Hockey Socks & Practice Jersey. The All-inclusive costs to play on our Full Season14U Bantam Team will be $3295/Player.  Our 14U Split Season Team’s Program will include Practices, Skill Sessions, 12 – 14 Game League Schedule plus Playoffs, Off Ice Training at our training partner Athletic Evolution, 2 Tournaments. Equipment provided will be 2 Game Jerseys, 2 Pair Hockey Socks, Practice Jersey & Equipment Team Bag. The cost to play on our Split Season Bantam Team will be $1595/player. Both team’s goalies will also have a Goaltenders Skills session each week in the Fall.


All players selected will also be required to sell 4 – $25.00 Raffle Tickets as part of our fund-raising efforts to keep our cost down. This program can also be used to give our families the opportunity to get their tuition bills paid in full!

EHF Selects 15 Pure/16U/18U Launches Fall 2018.

The Eastern Hockey Federation (EHF) is excited to announce a merger with the Mass Select League to create the EHF Selects 15 Pure/16U/18U Division to begin play in the Fall of 2018. The EHF Selects will be home to the top 15 Pure/ 16U/18U teams in New England and will bring unparalleled exposure to the players participating. 

EHF Selects will be made up of the 11 Eastern Hockey Federation Elite Organizations along with the 8 Mass Select League organizations. Each summer, upon conclusion of tryouts, teams will be broken into divisions. A top division will be made up of the best teams at their respective age levels in New England. This structure will guarantee quality games for each weekend of the season. 

Regardless of which division the teams are originally placed, each team will have the ability to compete for a league championship and a spot in their State or Regional play downs and a path to the USA Hockey’s National Championships in the spring. 

Additionally the EHF Selects will participate in premier fall showcase events. The showcases will highlight various league member teams and will include top rated teams from outside the local area. 

The EHF established in 2004 is the undisputed top youth hockey league in the Eastern United States, typically landing multiple teams in the top 10 Nationally per age bracket. (
The Mass Select League has been the undisputed top fall 1/2 Season league in New England for over 25 years. The league’s teams have won numerous Tier 1 Mass State Championships; have sent more 16U & 18U teams to USA Hockey National Championships than any other in New England over that time and have a number of USA Hockey National Championship wins. 

Collectively the EHF & Mass Selects have 100’s of former players currently playing NCAA college hockey. Notable alumni currently playing in the NHL include Jack Eichel, Keith Yandle, Kevin Hayes, Jimmy Vesey, Noah Hannifin, Brian Boyle, Cory Schneider, Brooks Orpik, Miles Wood, Chris Kreider, Conor Sherry, Brian Gibbons and many others. 

“The EHF is thrilled to add the Mass Select League organizations and their expertise in the fall season structure. This alliance will now allow EHF youth players the ability to progress in one league from learn to play hockey all the way thru high school; all along competing at the highest level of play in the country.” EHF President Jerry Buckley said. 

“Joining with the EHF to create the EHF Selects division is a tremendous opportunity for the organizations and players of the Mass Select League. This merger will continue to ensure that our players attain the best exposure and ultimate in competitive games. The EHF will provide our organizations with long term structural and financial stability, a professionally administered front office and access to the best sports complexes in New England.” Mass Select League President Pat Bohan commented. 

The Eastern Hockey Federation is made up of over 25 youth organization throughout New England and ownership of over 40 rinks. The EHF’s Elite organizations will all be participating in the EHF Selects division beginning the Fall of 2018. They are: Bay State Breakers, Boston Bandits, Boston Jr. Eagles, Boston Jr. Terriers, CT Jr Huskies, Islanders Hockey Club, Minuteman Flames, Providence Capitals, South Shore Kings, Top Gun and Mid Fairfield Jr. Rangers. 

The Mass Select League organizations joining the EHF Selects are: Boston Bulldogs, NS Wings, 495 Stars, North Stars Hockey, Boston Jr. Bruins, RI Saints, Cape Cod Whalers, Junior Bruins Hockey and Eastern Mass Senators.

Mike Bonish Sr named to Top 100


President | Premier Hockey League | The USA Hockey director for Massachusetts

Michael Bonish’s impact is felt all across the commonwealth. A Woburn, Mass., native, Bonish previously was president of the Massachusetts Tier II Development League and founded the Eastern Mass. Senators in 1992. He’s president of the Premier Hockey League of New England. He’s an accomplished hockey official, and as a coach, has served as bench boss for three national champion- ships teams (one Tier I, two Tier II 18-U).
