The Dylan Rizzo Story

This year the Eastern Mass Senators are very proud and honored to announce that the proceeds from this year’s golf tournament will be donated to the “Dylan Rizzo Fund”. Dylan is a young up and coming coach in the Lynnfield Spartans Hockey Program which is one of our partners in the Massachusetts Tier II Development League. Please take a minute to read a brief story about Dylan and if you can not participate in our golf tournament maybe you could make a donation to the “Dylan Rizzo Fund”

On December 28, 2010 Dylan was involved in a serious car accident. He is currently stable and rehabbing at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He has fought his way through several surgeries and complications and is slowly showing signs of getting better! He is fighting hard to get through this. We are sure everyone is hitting him up on facebook by now. Thanks for all your comments and support. Our family is all here with him at the hospital and everyone is praying for him. Take a look at Dylan's Blog using the following link: www.dailybangerz.blogspot.com

He loves music and loves sharing new bands he finds on the net.

Check it out and he will see you on it soon!

You can also check on Dylan’s progress at www.carepages.com

And also on facebook at Dylan Rizzo Fund you check out additional fund raising events!

A Fund has been set up with the help of some very dedicated and concerned friends. This fund will help cover some of the costs needed in the recovery and rehab for Dylan. To support Dylan in his recovery, donations can be sent to:

Dylan Rizzo Fund
P.O. Box 896
Lynnfield, MA 01940

We thank everyone for their love, prayers & support.

With love,
Tracy, Steve, Dylan & Devyn Rizzo

Yet another former Senator does good!

WEST POINT, NY - Pat Kimball scored the game's lone goal, while freshman Joe Cannata, making his first collegiate appearance, stopped 44 shots, leading Merrimack to a 1-0 win over Army Saturday night.

Kimball's goal, his first of the season, came 3:11 into the third period, as he wristed a shot along the ice past Army netminder Josh Kessel to give Merrimack the lead. Mickey Rego, the lone senior in tonight's lineup, and captain Joe Loprieno earned the assists.

That was all Cannata would need as he stopped 17 shots in the third period and got the fortunate break of a post hit by the Black Knights with seven minutes remaining in regulation.

For Kimball, it was his first goal since November 10, 2007, 27 games ago. Rego notched his first point since January 20th of 2007.

Francois Ouimet fired a team-high four shots, while his line mate Joe Cucci won 14 of 19 face-offs.

Army outshoot the Warriors 44-to-22 overall, but Cannata answered every scoring chance. He is believed to be the first Warrior goaltender to record a shutout in his first collegiate start.

With the win, Merrimack has won its last 10 meetings with Army, dating back to 1985. The Warriors are 8-0-1 in non-conference games since the beginning of last season.

After playing in a game last night at BU that featured 16 minor penalties in the game's first two periods, there were no penalties until 9:27 remaining in the second period tonight. There were only three minors called in all, two on Merrimack.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Hershey Bears center Keith Aucoin has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 12, 2008. Aucoin recorded two goals and five assists for seven points to go with a plus-4 rating in three games to start the 2008-09 AHL season.

Aucoin had quite an auspicious debut in a Bears uniform on opening night, scoring just 1:36 into the first period and then adding four assists as Hershey rolled to an 8-4 win at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Oct. 8. He picked up an assist in a come-from-behind 5-3 win at Norfolk on Oct. 10, and then scored once in regulation and one in the shootout during the Bears' 4-3 victory in Norfolk on Oct. 11.

In recognition of his achievement, Aucoin will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bears home game.

Beginning his eighth professional season, Aucoin now has 136 goals and 304 assists for 440 points in 438 career American Hockey League games. The 29-year-old native of Waltham, Mass., has appeared in three AHL All-Star Classics (2006, 2007, 2008) and was named a Second Team AHL All-Star following both the 2005-06 and 2006-07 campaigns. Aucoin, who has tallied five goals and 10 assists in 53 career NHL games with Carolina, signed as a free agent with the Washington Capitals on July 3, 2008.

Recently The Eastern Mass Senators Program visited The Tsongas Arena and toured the UMass Lowell Hockey Team's facility. Riverhawks Head Coach Blaise MacDonald spoke with all of the players and parents about what it takes to play at a Division I College Hockey Program. Here is a picture of the Senators' Staff with Coach MacDonald. The Senators program would like to THANK Coach MacDonald for taking time out of his busy schedule for his hospitality!

On June 6, 2007 Eastern Mass Senators Executive Director Michael Bonish received his 10 Year Service Award from USA Hockey at the 2007 USA Hockey Annual Congress in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mikes 10 year service award was in USA Hockey's High School section.
